EMT Basic

Basic - Standard Time Format - This course prepares you to sit for state or national certification.  We offer the Indiana state skills exam which is included in the cost of the course.  This course includes clinical observation time in the emergency room and on an ambulance.

You do not need to be a resident of Indiana, nor do you need to be a US citizen to take this course.  People who take EMT basic have varied goals:

  • work as an EMT on an ambulance, fire department, or first responder service
  • work as an EMT for a business
  • gain medical knowledge and skills for use in professions which have high contact with a community or work in remote areas
  • to use on a resume for further schooling in the medical field or on a resume for employment
  • to help care better for elderly or sick family members
  • corporations looking to improve job safety conditions & to reduce insurance costs
  • simply to gain the confidence to deal with emergent situations which can arise in everyday life

Basic Accelerated - The same Basic EMT course and standards over an intensive two week daily schedule.  We offer the National Registry skills exam at the completion of each Accelerated EMT Basic course.  Many states accept national registry certification for reciprocity.  If yours is not a state that does, you can check with your state EMS office to find out what steps you need to take upon completion of this course to be eligible to work in your state.  This information is available at www.nremt.org

You will need to hold a Current CPR Card in order to be certified as an EMT.  This means you need to have taken a CPR course that covers Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and meets the new guidelines established by the American Heart Association in July of 2005.   If you are signing up for the Accelerated EMT course and are not currently CPR certified, you should attend the CPR course on the Saturday prior to the start of your Accelerated EMT course.  If you plan on attending CPR, you need to let us know in advance by indicating that you need it on your registration form or by calling or emailing us so that we can get  your CPR course material to you.  We cannot accept last minute walk-ins for the CPR courses.

EMT Paramedic

EMT-Paramedic is the highest level of certification in EMS, and the course of training is challenging and exciting. This twelve-month program will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to sit for the National Registry Paramedic examination, recognized for certification in most states. Approximately half your time will be spent in the classroom, and half your time will be divided between clinical training on ambulances, and in several departments in the hospital.

You do not need to be a resident of Indiana, nor do you need to be a US citizen to take this course.

Accelerated course: The Accelerated paramedic course is designed specifically for those able to make a full time commitment to training for three months. The program is fast-paced and difficult, and requires students with a high level of motivation, self-discipline, and responsibility. Class is held Monday through Friday from 8 am to 6 pm. If you have the dedication this unique program requires, this course may be for you.

We offer the National Registry skills exam at the completion of each Accelerated Paramedic course.  Many states accept national registry certification for reciprocity.  If yours is not a state that does, you can check with your state EMS office to find out what steps you need to take upon completion of this course to be eligible to work in your state.  This information is available at www.nremt.org

You will need to hold a Current EMT-B or higher certification in order to be certified as an Paramedic.
