EMT-Basic Accelerated Format - The same Basic EMT course and
standards over an intensive two week daily schedule. We offer
the Indiana State practical skills exam, included in the cost of the
course, at the completion of
each Accelerated EMT Basic course. The Indiana State skills exam
is accepted by the National Registry and many states accept national
registry certification for reciprocity. If yours is not a state
that does, you can check with your state EMS office to find out what
steps you need to take upon completion of this course to be eligible
to work in your state. This information is available at
www.nremt.org.
You do not need to be a resident of Indiana, nor do you need to be a
US citizen to take this course.
You will need to hold a Current qualifying CPR Card
in order to be certified as an EMT. The most commonly held
cards that meet
these requirements are:
-American Heart Association Healthcare
Provider
-American Red Cross Professional
Rescuer
-ASHI Professional Rescuer (CPR Pro)
-National Safety Council Professional
Rescuer
-Military Healthcare Provider
Equivalent CPR Card
Wondering if your current card qualifies? If it says
Healthcare Provider or Professional Rescuer on the front, it does.
If not, it probably doesn't.
If you are signing up for
the Accelerated EMT course and are not currently CPR
certified, you must find a qualifying CPR course in your area prior to
coming to Bloomington or you must attend the CPR course offered by
Pelham Training on the Saturday prior to
the start of your Accelerated EMT course. If you plan on
attending CPR, you need to let us know in advance by indicating that
you need it on your registration form or by calling or emailing us so that we can get
your name on our roster. We cannot accept last
minute
walk-ins for the CPR courses.
